Robes Reading Across Georgia

This year Read Across America day falls on Sunday March 2, 2025, and it will be celebrated by the schools during the week of March 3rd through the 7th. Robes Reading Across Georgia aims to put Georgia’s judges in front of classrooms to promote civics education and our judiciary.

The initiative is spearheaded by Judge Cynthia Adams of the Douglas Judicial Circuit, who has a message below:

Calling on ALL judges willing to read to our elementary school students. As an avid reader, I truly believe that reading to our children can change the trajectory of their lives. It’s why we are once again partnering with local schools and school districts for National Read Across America. This year this national event will be celebrated in schools between March 3rd and March 7th.  We are focusing on March 6, 2025 for this initiative.  However, judges, if your calendar is already full for the 6th, we will work with you and the school’s schedule during that week and find the best time slot for you.  You can participate in a few easy steps:

  1. Find that favorite children’s book that you like to read to the child(ren) in your life
  2. Put on your robe (you can read from your bench or your desk)
  3. Click on the link that will be provided to you at your scheduled time
  4. Get ready to see some smiling faces as you read to the young people
  5. Be open to answering questions they may want to ask about being a judge
  6. Finally, get ready to enjoy the “ thank you” pictures and videos that will follow

If you are interested, please email RobesReading@gmail.com and provide your name, your assistant’s name, and the best email to contact you and your assistant.  We will take care of the rest!
