Darron Enns

New Year’s resolution: “find new opportunities to create.” Darron Enns is keeping his New Year’s resolution this year.

On January 2, 2019, Darron started his new job with the AOC as a Policy Analyst. He brings with him a depth and breadth of experience in government, legislation and the judiciary.

Darron grew up in a small California farm town.  Looking for new adventure, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve immediately after graduating high school.  While in the Reserves, he started college but was pulled away from his studies when he was activated and sent to Marine Corps Air Station-Yuma, Arizona (as military police) in support of the Iraq War. At the end of his enlistment, he committed to college full-time at San Diego State where he received his degree in International Security. He then received his Master’s in National Security Studies from California State University, San Bernardino where he met his wife Jamie. Darron will tell you “Jamie is the best thing I got out of graduate school.”

Washington D.C. seems like the natural next step for Darron.  As staff for U.S. Representative Duncan Hunter, he worked on legislation. Darron quickly realized, in order to do his job, he been relied on the analysis of attorneys. He thought, “Why don’t I just cut out the middle man and do the legislative analysis myself?” So, he went to law school.

After graduating from Regent University School of Law in Virginia Beach, he returned to California with his wife and one-year old daughter Annie, at the urging of his family there.  Darron worked for the CEO of the County of Los Angeles in legislative affairs for two years before returning to Virginia. While in California, Darron and Jamie had two more children, Daniel and Henry.

Like his AOC predecessor, James Rodatus, Darron served as a Magistrate Judge in Norfolk, Virginia. “I really enjoyed the work and gained an invaluable insight into criminal justice.” After visiting Jamie’s folks in Griffin, Ga. on Easter in 2017, the couple knew they wanted to live closer to family.  His wife’s family lives in Griffin, so Darron took the Georgia Bar and started looking for an opportunity to move to Georgia.

Darron is now in Georgia doing the work he loves as part of the JC/AOC team. He is fascinated by legislation. As an AOC Policy Analyst, “my job is to analyze legislation to determine its effect on the judiciary.  I also have the opportunity to draft legislation, answer questions about legislation and train others about the legislative process.”   He may have found his perfect job.

When he’s not working on policy, Darron spends most of his time with his kids. Unfortunately, his kids are finishing up the school year in Virginia so, for now, he sees them on the weekends.  But he keeps busy. He’s living with his in-laws who keep chickens as a hobby, so he spends his down time repairing chicken coops or collecting eggs. When he finds time, he reads. The book he’s reading now – Mastering Statutory Interpretation.  (He really does love legislation.)

Darron is living in a new city, with a new job, impacting new laws, and looking forward to making a new home with his wife and kids-not a bad start on his New Year’s resolution.
