Now in its fifth year, Robes Reading Across Georgia continues to grow in creativity, participation, and joyful impact on students across the state. What began as a vision to help connect judges with local classrooms through reading has evolved into a statewide celebration of literacy, civic engagement, and community connection.

This year marked a new milestone, with a record number of schools and judges representing multiple classes of court, participating both virtually and in‑person. According to Judge Cynthia C. Adams, “It just seems to get better every year. This year was no exception.” Her innovative approach has helped the program expand in reach and accessibility. After noticing that many schools preferred the 10 a.m. time slot while judges were often unavailable then, she introduced a creative solution: performing and recording full readings of her Busy Buzzy Bee series so multiple schools could enjoy the experience at once. The response from students was overwhelmingly positive.
Among this year’s highlights was Judge Morris’s reading, joined by her dog, Oliver, which Judge Adams called her “absolute favorite,” noting how creatively judges are engaging with students. Feedback from schools and judges reflects the program’s impact. Judge Pandora Palmer shared, “It was so much fun! I can’t wait to do it again!” Church Street Elementary reported that students “were SO engaged… Busy Buzzy Bee was a HIT!” and praised Judge Kellie Hill for her connection with the children. Chief Judge Holly Veal described her session as “a wonderful time,” and Justice Verda Colvin summed up her visit simply: “It was so fun! Great kids.”
Several judges expressed interest in deeper classroom connections, including Judge Ashley Palmer who read to Lithia Springs Elementary and hopes to return in person. Schools are equally enthusiastic, with some requesting multiple time slots for next year so more students can participate. One Habersham educator noted, “Our students loved being able to have a story read by a real judge… We would love to sign up for all three time slots.”
With its blend of literacy, mentorship, and community engagement, Robes Reading Across Georgia continues to highlight the human side of the judiciary and deliver “another wonderful year… most importantly, for our Georgia students.”
