Parking Deck Court in Cherokee County

In early December, we stopped by the Cherokee County Justice Center on a cold and rainy day to see a “Parking Deck Court” in action. As expected, it’s an efficient operation that is tackling the non-jury case backlog while protecting the public that passes through it.

When traffic court first began to be held in the parking deck, the Solicitor’s office proceeded with caution, aiming for only 20 arraignments an hour operating in 4 hour sessions. After careful consideration of the space and their ability to protect the public’s health, 30 to 40 arraignments are now heard in an hour, allowing the court to completely catch up in regards to non-jury matters.
