Submit artwork depicting the 2022 Law Day theme, “Towards a More Perfect Union: The Constitution in Times of Change.”
Law Day is honored every year on May 1st and this year’s theme is Towards a More Perfect Union: The Constitution in Times of Change. To celebrate, we are throwing an art contest for Georgia’s students complete with cash prizes (thanks to the Georgia Council of Court Administrators) for 4 grand winners.
To be inclusive of the wide range of talents of Georgia’s students, the contest is open to receiving entries of any artistic medium. For more details about entering the contest visit https://jcaoc.georgiacourts.gov/judicial-council-of-georgia-2022-law-day-art-contest/. An important note: the deadline for entries is April 1st.
Do you need a starting off point?
There are many different approaches or angles that can be taken with this theme. Here are just few examples of subjects to tackle with an illustration or poem:
- Famous Supreme Court Cases and the events behind them such as Brown v. Board of Education, Dred Scott v. Sandford, or Marbury v. Madison.
- The constitution currently has 27 amendments, each with a unique story, and almost all of them arose from times of drastic change. Pick an amendment that you find fascinating and tell its origin story.
- Look into the future. Perhaps we are living in a time of change. What might be the 28th amendment?
