Meet Amber Range, Court Tools Manager at the Judicial Council of Georgia/AOC

Condensed and edited for brevity

Michelle Barclay: Thank you so much for talking with me, let’s discuss your path to the job you currently hold?

Amber Range: I began my public service career at the Gwinnett Recorder’s Court, where I discovered a true passion for helping improve court processes. One of the most pivotal experiences in that role was supporting Gwinnett’s CMS go-live, which sparked a deep interest in workflows and system implementation. That experience solidified my desire to work on initiatives that bring real operational improvements to the courts. Today, I feel very blessed to serve as the Court Tools Manager, where I get to play a part in one of the most impactful technology projects happening across Georgia’s court system.

MB: What is your role with the GA CMS Project?

AR: I serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) with a focus on Probate Courts. In addition to that, I have the privilege of being the product owner for several key functional areas (also called Pods), including Document Management, Financial Management, Forms, and eFiling. My role involves working closely with our vendors and courts – to ensure our solutions are practical, user-friendly, and truly meet the needs of our courts.

MB: What are your favorite parts of your job?

AR: I genuinely enjoy the opportunity to help courts become more efficient and better equipped to serve the public. Collaborating with court staff across the state, understanding their challenges, and helping implement meaningful solutions is incredibly rewarding. I also love the problem-solving side of the work—getting into the details of workflows and figuring out how we can make systems better.

MB: Any new goals for 2025?

AR: One of my main goals for 2025 is to contribute to the success of the CMS project by supporting my team and collaborating with court professionals across the state. This is truly a team-driven effort, and I’m grateful to work alongside such dedicated individuals who all share the goal of improving Georgia’s court systems. I’m also focused on growing as a manager, mentor, and teammate—continuing to develop both professionally and personally. Right now, our team is actively working on improving several of the Court Tools we support to ensure they are more effective, intuitive, and aligned with the needs of our users.

MB: What do you do in your free time?

AR: Outside of work, I’m a proud mom and sports mom! My son plays football at Monroe Area High School, and my oldest daughter plays on a national-level softball team—we’ll be traveling to Colorado and Kansas City this summer for tournaments. I also have three younger children, and I cherish any time spent with them. We love to go outdoors. I couldn’t do any of this without the incredible support of my husband—my better half—who holds everything together at home while I travel and work. He’s always cheering me on, and I’m so grateful for his love and support. Taking time to recharge with my family helps keep me grounded and focused.
